ACE Accelerated Christian Education
Frequently asked Questions about ACE
- Will the Accelerated Christian Education program help me manage my children’s behavior?
The Accelerated Christian Education program has certain disciplines built into its procedures such as goal-setting, periodic scoring of academic work by the student, and correcting of all incorrect answers.
Each PACE presents one of 60 character traits of Christ. There is a poem about the character trait and a verse of Scripture that the student memorizes as the foundation of the trait. The character traits are then modeled throughout the PACEs in cartoon strips. This allows the students to see "good behavior" in action.
In the high school English PACEs there are "Wisdom Inserts" to help teens use the Scripture they have learned and apply the Scripture principles to life situations.
In each of the Chemistry PACEs there are "Teen Life Principles." The Scripture that is memorized year by year will remain with the students throughout their lives.
- I have a student with special learning challenges. Will the A.C.E. curriculum work for my child?
Many students with special learning challenges have successfully used the A.C.E. curriculum. By using the diagnostic testing, students are placed at a level where they can achieve. Students move through the curriculum as they demonstrate mastery of the concepts.
Special adaptations can be made in using the curriculum such as enlarging the pages for visually impaired students.
- What ages or grade levels can use the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum?
Accelerated Christian Education curriculum begins with Kindergarten with Ace and Christi and offers courses through the high school level.
The curriculum includes advanced courses that can be used for academic enrichment or for a high school honors program.
- Do I have to use the entire Accelerated Christian Education curriculum or can I use it for selected subject areas like reading?
Accelerated Christian Education has some excellent learning-to-read programs such as ABCs with Ace and Christi, Videophonics, and English as Your Second Language.
We also offer an excellent software program called Readmaster in levels 1 through 12 that will develop vocabulary and improve reading comprehension and rates. These products can be used independently.
Other courses are most effective when used as part of our integrated curriculum. For example, our social studies and science courses also help develop reading skills. Since our curriculum is fully integrated, vocabulary, reading level, and content are consistent across subject areas for each grade level. This integrated approach reinforces learning, and the program is most effective when the complete curriculum is used.
- The Accelerated Christian Education curriculum has many levels. How will I know where my children should start?
Students who enter the Accelerated Christian Education program from another curriculum-whether in a school or homeschool environment-take a series of diagnostic tests to determine accurate placement in the curriculum.
Because the English and math diagnostic tests are skill specific, they identify specific areas of weakness. Specially designed gap PACEs are available to help students overcome weaknesses identified by these tests.
The social studies and science test measures students’ reading ability and indicates the students’ appropriate grade level placement.
For students reading below grade level, the Readmaster program improves reading ability and helps bring students to chronological grade level.
The Word Building test evaluates spelling ability and indicates appropriate grade level placement. Once students are placed appropriately, the curriculum builds skills and ensures mastery at each level.
